Danni Kemp was a member of the Connecticut Charmers, and we continue to honor her legacy with baby blue ribbons labeled DK23 on all of our uniforms.

Danielle “Danni” Kemp was a dedicated softball player her entire life. Known for her passion for softball and her dedication to her teammates, the 2x All-State catcher has made a lasting impact on her community and the game of softball.

Following the completion of her freshman season at Stony Brook University, Danni was struck in the helmet by a pitch in July 2016. Danni had begun to experience concussion-like symptoms, and after being sent to Yale-New Haven hospital Danni and her family were informed that she was suffering from a rare and aggressive brain tumor on the Pons region of her brain known as DIPG. The former Milford CT native, Foran High School alumni, and Stony Brook University softball player passed away on March 10, 2017 after a tough and courageous battle; the community continues to remember Danni Kemp for her competitive spirit and the inspiring legacy she left behind.

Danni was described as “beautiful in every way” by former high school coach Jeff Bevino. Bevino said that Danni was not only a “five-tool player, but she was probably the most beautiful person [he’s] known… she brightened everybody's life that she touched.” Anthony Vitelli, Foran's athletic director, stated that “Danni touched the lives of so many of us… she was a tremendous person, friend, and teammate and was loved by all who knew her.” During the spring of 2020, Foran High School announced it would be renovating and renaming its softball field “Danni Kemp Field” in Danni’s honor. The field commemorates the memory of an amazing young athlete, and inspires the community to play with Danni Kemp's spirit: the ability to display a love for the challenge of the game, a love for one’s team, and to play with a competitive edge that fosters pride in knowing you left it all out on the field.

Danni is remembered as so many things; but aside from being a dominant softball player who fiercely loved her family, friends and teammates, Danni Kemp was a warrior who fought to the very end. Danni’s memory continues to live on in all those whose lives she has touched.
